Mychel Thompson "Rains" Supreme, DFenders Fall

Mychel Thompson was on fire Sunday night in El Segundo, particularly in the third period of play when he went back-to-back threes in a matter of 30 seconds and scored an additional two-point bucket to score 8 points in about a minute-and-a-half of play.  Bingo Bango... BooYa!  Perhaps MT was inspired by the "alleged" comments of DFenders' Coach Phil Hubbard when he remarked that there were "no shooters" on the floor.  Meanwhile, MT WAS ON THE FLOOR.. it was the third period.. he scored 16 of his game-high 30 on 12-16 shooting from the floor, 5-8 from three, three steals, 4 boards, 4 assists, and, uh.. err... ONE-for-FIVE FTs ?! C'Mon MT! J/K The "FTs" were the only flaw in his game as the young Thompson was simply nails all over the floor and he was hitting deep balls with tremendous lift on his jumper.  Strong Game from the SoCal-er Gone NoCal, Indeed.

Everyone watched as MT drained Threes from Deep

MT was looking for someone to D-Fend him

#GOLAKERS , #GODFENDERS

One, so-called, "Man's Opinion:"  Personally, I don't care  what kind of lineup a squad fields.  There is NO Excuse for being out-rebounded by TWICE the amount of Boards.  This is what happened to the DFenders Sunday Night: 54 (Warriors), 27 (DFenders).  All I would have on my "chalkboard" for the team to "VIEW"would be: 54 v 27 with a GIANT CIRCLE around it.  The DFenders had chances to win this ballgame in spite of the rebounding discrepancy.  Kuzmic (Warriors) is a nice player.  He is Big.  He takes up space, etc.  And he can put these kinds of stats up on a given night (like Sunday): 22 pts, 18 Boards (11 Offensive) in 30 minutes.  FULL BOX SCORE of GAME.

The DFenders HAVE BIGS.  Two Seven-Footers in fact; Eloy Vargas and Ater Majok.  They combined, Sunday eve, for 11 Boards.  These two need to wake up and smell the coffee if they want to get a "Sniff" from the NBA.  If you cannot hold Kuzmic in check in "the D" you don't stand a chance in "the league." FACT.

No Excuses.  Roscoe Smith is a nice player and the DFenders leading rebounder, but his absence should have only opened the 7-Foot Doors for both Mr. Majok and Mr. Vargas.  Perhaps you need to open that door a little more Mr. Smith?

Personally, I am more concerned with who is eyeing their overseas opportunities rather than becoming a cohesive, championship-contending unit.  This team has a nice collection of talent.  Has had the talent all year, so why are there so many games where players, seemingly, play more for "self" and less for "team."

I part with these quotes from Coach John Wooden:

"It's the little details that are vital. Little things make
big things happen."

"Talent is God-given. Be humble. Fame is man-given.
Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful."

"The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the
team."

"Success comes from knowing that you did your best
to become the best that you are capable of
becoming."
